Rotary Chester’s Christmas season has concluded with a couple of social events to round off our year. We had lunch at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Chester on Monday 9th of December where we were joined by two members of the Rotary Club Llorach. We have had an association with this club for many years but it has of course been stalled due to Covid. We are pleased to resurrect this connection and of course Llorach is one of the three cities twinned with Chester. The Club President and members of the Rotary Club of Llorach will be attending our Charter Anniversay dinner on the 4th of February 2023, which promises to be a truly special occasion.
On the 19th of December we had our Christmas dinner, attended by 46 members, guests and friends of Rotary. This event was held at Chester Golf Club – a very pleasant Christmas meal followed by carols and a recital, plus of course the inevitable raffle which raised £130.
But Rotary Chester is not just about social events. We have donated £200 to Passion for Learning and £200 to Chester Autism. These monies have being awarded from our Community Award Fund which supports local charities and good causes in our city.
We also donate annually to Chester Aid to the Homeless (CATH). This year, in addition to our club grant of £150 we will be sending the £130 raised from the above mentioned raffle.
2022 concludes another successful year for our Club, and we look forward to 2023 with hope and optimism for the future. If you would like to join us, please contact us – we always welcome new members, from every section of our society.
