Rotary Club of Chester visit to Lörrach

The Rotary Club of Chester has a long standing relationship with the Rotary club of Lörrach in Germany which resulted from the twin town links. Lörrach is one of the four towns ‘twinned’ with Chester and members from both Rotary clubs enjoy frequent exchange visits. As a result, many members from Lörrach have visited Chester in recent years and now make regular trips to enjoy the friendship and the local area.

As an international organisation, Rotary has clubs based in all parts of the world and this friendship is vital to help us improve communications, fellowship and understanding. It also provides a network for Rotarians to ensure that the aid and support they distribute reaches the intended destination, often supervised by local Rotarians.

The pictures from a recent visit by members of the club show the very warm welcome that is always received. Andreas Walder, Lörrach Rotary club President is pictured accepting an apron with Chester images from our Rotary Club President, Heather Oldham. Andreas will be giving this to his wife. As he owns the Lasser Brewery in Lörrach he says he sticks to brewing and leaves the cookery to his wife.

Also pictured is Brian Westcott, International Chairman of Chester Rotary club, Christine Westcott, member of Chester Inner Wheel and Jennifer Jackson, President of Chester Inner Wheel and a member of Chester International Links Association (CILA), with some of our hosts, Markus Schnable, Matthias Brandl and their wives.
