We have recently awarded £250 to Save the Family, a local charity that offers temporary housing and round-the-clock support to homeless and at-risk families. The award was made via our Community Award Fund, for 33 items to create sensory bags for their baby and toddler sensory sessions.
With funding, the Children and Young People’s Mentoring team hope to purchase age-appropriate sensory resources such as crinkle books, sensory scarves, and wooden instruments. These resources will be used to enhance the current ‘Mini Explorer’ sessions, allowing the team to respond more effectively to each child’s unique sensory preferences and challenges and create rich, stimulating experiences that cater to the developmental needs of babies and toddlers.
Save the Family provides residential accommodation and support for families that are homeless (or at risk of becoming homeless) and who have multiple and complex needs. The charity is based on the outskirts of Chester in a modern, multi-purpose facility.
The Community Award fund is intended to assist small organisations and good causes from Chester and surrounding areas. See here for details and application form.
