Manchester Airport was the meeting point for fifteen Rotarians and partners on 16 September. We flew with Easyjet to Basle and thence to Lorrach, Chester’s twin German city. Our “hosts”, the Rotary Club of Lorrach, ensured that our stay was memorable and we give a warm “Thank You” to Barbara who gave of her time to see we got on and off the right buses and trains throughout our visits.
We had a reception at the Rathaus (Town Hall) which included a trip to the 16th floor to see the view and in the evening were made welcome at Lorrach RC’s meeting. Rob Adams gave an excellent photo presentation of Chester to whet Lorrach’s appetite for their visit to us next May.
The weather could have been kinder, but it all cleared up for our Wednesday visit through the Black Forest and up to the top of Mount Belchin, which, at 1414m gave us wonderful views.
Finally, it all would not have happened at all had it not been for Derek and Jennifer. The formers care of us was akin to “One Man and his Dog”, but with Derek playing both parts. Thank you both.
