We held a street collection for the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal

During Chester Races on 4 and 5 May 2022, Chester Rotary obtained a Street Collection licence to invite racegoers to contribute to the Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.  Club members focussed on Watergate Street on both days, and the generous public gave over £600 towards our charity funding efforts.

This amount will be paid into our Trust Fund, and will be donated to the appeal together with further funding from our members and others. We have already sent £5,000 from our intitial funding efforts in March, and together with Gift Aid we expect to exceed 4 figures in the coming months.

Thanks to Cheshire West and Cheshire Council for granting us this licence, and our appeal efforts continue – we also recognised the benefit of being visiible as a Club in the City centre.  We hope that by demonstrating our efforts in this and other areas, we will gain new members to strengthen our membership base.

Rotary International are “deeply concerned by the escalating loss of life and humanitarian hardship caused by the war in Ukraine.
