The Rotary Club of Chester are supporting the Sanyang school in The Gambia, as part of our international charity efforts.  We received an entertaining and thought provoking talk from Kathryn Holland, describing the efforts of Sanyang locals to improve their education facilities.

Our club is contributing £200 toward the construction of a kitchen facility.  At present meals are prepared for 550 pupils on open fires at the school.

This project is overseen by a charity called “Goal For The Gambia.

Their recent tweet regarding this project read

Work has started at Sanyang Arabic school kitchen. The students are provided with a free cooked lunch by the Islamic organisation overseeing that side of education here. If a proper kitchen is not built to their H&S regs this support will be withdrawn.”
